History & Farm

The Buffets Olives 300 Ha farm is situated against the foothills of the Drakenstein Mountains, just outside the picturesque town of Paarl. The ideal combination of granite-based soils and Mediterranean climate makes for the perfect place to cultivate your favourite olive varieties. For the past 50 years, olives have been handpicked at optimal ripeness, naturally cured and packaged for the South African market. Is it any wonder that we are Mzansi’s most loved table olives!

Our People

We place equal value on nurturing our natural environment and our people. Employees at Buffet Olives own equity in the business and share a personal stake in growing their investment.

The Anna Foundation

The Anna Foundation was established in 2005, when a teacher named Anna Brom started teaching at a disadvantaged farm and township school in Mpumalanga. Mathematics and literacy proved to be a major obstacle at these schools. Buffet Olives recognised the vital role education had to play and opted to invest the required resources.

Today the Anna Foundation is a well-established NGO with a clear mandate to inspire our youth with a hopeful vision of the future. The Anna Foundation aftercare school facility is situated on the farm. Here additional projects are available to help build a promising future for South Africa’s younger generation.

Harvest

All olives are initially green and turn black as they ripen on the trees. Our olives are picked separately and carefully by hand and placed in picking buckets. The olive harvest on our farm typically begins in late February and will continue until August.
